We started off Maritt's 2nd birthday (post-breakfast of Nutella on whole grain toast with banana slices and milk, having been greeted by purple, yellow and butterfly balloons in the kitchen and an early rendition of 'happy birthday' in her crib) with an early morning visit to see Dr. Brennan for Maritt's 2 year check-up.
Here are the stats:
Height: 34 3/4" (75%)
Weight: 29 lbs (75%)
Head Circumference: 48 1/2 cm (75%)
As he said, "well that's just about a proportional as it gets!" =)
He said she looked great, seemed well. Was growing wonderfully, etc.
She was a MODEL patient. Cyanne was there to offer moral support, as well (but did keep asking me when Maritt was going to get a shot, if she was going to cry, and then when she, Cyanne, was going to get the lollipop)....
During the exam, Maritt sat quietly on my lap and looked intently at Dr. Brennan the entire time.
She let him listen to her chest, back, in her ears to see if he could "find some ladybugs in there" (that was a new one; thought it was clever) (though Cyanne piped up with "there aren't ladybugs in Maritt's ears! that's silly." =)), looked at her teeth, shined the light in her eyes, felt her tummy/legs (Cyanne said "What are you doing to my sister, Maritt's, legs?").
Not a peep!
Rather uneventful (which is good!) though I did ask about her wheezing/breathing difficulty whenever she gets a cold so he said he'd note it & just to keep an eye on it.
However, with any history or possibility of wheezing, that meant she got the inject-able flu vaccine, not the nasal spray so Cyanne was rewarded in the end when the RN came in and gave Maritt a shot in her thigh.
Which, I was impressed, did not make her cry. She just sat there and then said, get this:
"More! More!"
The RN turned back around and said, "wait, what did she say?"
And Maritt then said again, "More! More!"
Clearly, the first time she'd ever had a kid say she wanted "more" shots.
Too funny.
Cyanne picked out a purple lollipop for herself and a red one for Maritt.
All the way to school in the car, Maritt kept saying "yummmm!! good!" And I'd say "Does it taste good, Maritt? Is it sweet?" and she'd say "yeah, good! GOOD! Is sweet, Mommy." =) She was a happy camper.
So, turns out it wasn't too bad a start to her birthday...
Always glad to get a great report from the doctor.
Keep on growing, Maritt!
You're 2!!!
