We woke up and realized we were:
1) not at home,
2) alone,
3) programmed to wake up early even when the girls weren't there,
4) without Cyanne and Maritt, and
5) could do whatever we wanted, when we wanted! Yippee!...
We got ready and took a nice walk to Urth Cafe where we had a delicious breakfast, fantastic lattes (mine was a bird!), read the paper, and talked. It was fantastic.
After breakfast, we put on our pool clothes, sunscreen and headed up to the rooftop pool.
It was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day - a perfect day to sit out and relax by a pool. The fact that it happened to be a pool on the roof of a tall building in LA with views of the city didn't hurt.
Sam & Yasmine -
Tom - enjoying the private cabana - "Now, this is the life..." =)
Though, do note, while he was reading his magazine, I was reading the Ferber sleep training book. =) We're coming for you, Maritt!
If you look carefully, you can see the Hollywood sign in the distance:
View of the lower rooftop bar area (where we had drinks the 1st day, incidentally):
View of the pool - looks inviting, no?
The pool, chairs, lounge chairs, and any available space quickly became filled. There was a person at the door to the rooftop area with a clipboard with names (you had to be on the list to be let up) and a count of the number of people on the roof. It was totally full! Lots of bikinis, big sunglasses, hats, and drinks. I definitely felt like I was a long, long way from Santa Barbara =).
Towards the end of the afternoon, we knew it was time to go. We had a fantastic time but knew we needed to get home. We headed back to Santa Barbara feeling amazingly refreshed. We were very excited to pick-up Cyanne and then to drive back to the house to meet Maritt.
We caught some of the 4th of July fireworks set off from Girsh park that night after both girls were asleep in their beds:
