Gap Fire - July 3, 2008 (Part II)

Here are more photos during the Gap Fire.
Tom took these when he returned to the house Thursday afternoon to collect more of our belongings before we left for the East Coast Friday morning.

This shot is taken on Fairview - looking towards the hills. If you look towards the mountains on the right hand side, you can see some flames.

A shot of a police car blocking off Glen Annie Road. This is the intersection closest to our house - Glen Annie and Cathedral Oaks Road.

A shot of the sign for the entrance to La Patera Ranch, owned by David Van Horne with whom I work. None of his ranch was burned but they were manning the lines and used his property as a staging area both for helicopter take-off/landing and refueling as well as a location for fire crews. The second shot shows a line of fire trucks exiting La Patera Ranch.

A shot of the sun from our backyard. The ash is covering the sun.

Driving towards Los Carneros from our house. That is not cloud cover. That is ash.

Views of orchards off of Cathedral Oaks Road as well as a shot of our house.

Photos taken from my parent's deck in Hope Ranch. The sky was this incerdible, eerie orange. There is a sliver of clear sky on the horizon beneath the clouds of ash.
When Tom was taking these photos, I was at the Secord's house and went outside once to get something from the car. Ash was raining down - it was incredible.
This was when the fire was in full swing.

The following photos were taken by Greg Lawler. Some incredible shots of the fire...

Press/Media Coverage.
